The project

For its first London appearance, BEVERLY 1975 built its space around its signature pegboard. Behind it ran Calico Wallpaper’s Cadence, designed with Athena Calderone. In Oxblood it reads, in one reviewer’s words, “as aged patina”: a deep, layered red that sets off ceramics, textiles and lighting.

Our approach

  • Prepared for a perfect finish. Cadence’s quiet, layered texture shows every imperfection in the wall beneath, so preparation came first.
  • Seams that disappear. With a tonal, painterly ground there is no motif to hide a join in. Every seam was butted and rolled to vanish.
  • One day, ready for styling. The wall was finished in a single day, leaving the space clear for the BEVERLY team to style before the opening.
