Joinery, panels and the finish between them

Wallcoverings carried onto doors, wardrobes, panelling and bespoke furniture. Panels wrapped in specialist architectural film. Bespoke wall panels and joinery made to achieve a specific finish, from design through manufacture to install.

The most considered rooms carry the finish beyond the wall: across doors, wardrobe fronts, panelling and bespoke furniture, so that joinery and walls read as one surface. We apply wallcoverings to joinery with the same discipline as the walls around it. Seams, edges and returns are planned at the survey so the joins disappear.

Joinery is a different surface from plaster. Faces are sealed and primed to suit the material, edges are wrapped or finished tight, and the pattern is carried across doors and frames. At Lee Broom's Shoreditch showroom we ran Calico Wallpaper's Overture straight across a flush door until it vanished into the drape. At Raffles London at The OWO the wallcovering continued from the walls onto parts of the joinery.

Where a panel, door or carcass needs a new surface rather than paper, we wrap it in specialist architectural film such as Cover Styl', in wood, stone, metal, leather-look and solid finishes. Where film is not the right answer, we finish panels in paper, fabric or relief wallcovering instead. See architectural and furniture film wrapping for film on existing joinery.

When the finish a designer wants cannot be bought off the shelf, we create bespoke wall panels and joinery to achieve it: panelling, framed and shaped panels, headboards, and door and wardrobe faces, made to the drawing and the finish. Heritage relief belongs to the same family. At the Castle of Trematon we hung Lincrusta relief panels to a laser line.

Everything runs as one managed package. We develop the detail with the designer, agree a sample in the room's own light, make the panels and joinery, then fit, finish and wallcover them on site. One team, one programme and one point of responsibility from the drawing to the handover, followed by the same aftercare as every installation.

Trained at Solar Screen's headquarters in Luxembourg in window films (Solar Screen) and architectural and furniture wrapping film (Cover Styl'). We install to the maker's own instructions.

Questions

Asked about Joinery wallcoverings & bespoke panels

Can wallpaper be applied to doors and wardrobes?

Yes, on sound, smooth joinery that has been sealed and primed for it. The pattern is set out across the doors so it reads as one surface when they are closed, and hinge edges, handles and returns are detailed at the survey.

Can you create panels to match a specific finish?

Yes. We create bespoke wall panels and joinery to the drawing, then finish them in wallcovering, film or relief. The finish is designed in from the start rather than applied afterwards, and agreed on a sample before the run is made.

Film or wallcovering on joinery: which is better?

Film suits hard-wearing, wipe-clean surfaces in busy areas: hotel bedroom doors, wardrobes, lifts and counters. Wallcovering suits pattern, texture and continuity with the walls. Where both could work, we sample both in the room.

Who looks after design, manufacture and installation?

We do, as one managed package. The same team develops the detail, makes the panels and joinery, installs and finishes them, and returns for aftercare, so there is one point of responsibility throughout.
