Silk wallcovering installation

Silk wallcoverings, plain and patterned, hung in London houses and hotels.

Silk is lustrous, and quick to mark. It is hung with clean hands and an adhesive that suits the cloth. Seams are planned so the light from the windows does not catch a ridge.

The wall has to be right first. Preparation, including a lining where the maker specifies one, is written into the scope.

Protection of floors, furniture and finished joinery is part of the hang, not an optional extra.

Questions

Asked about Silk wallcovering installation

Is silk wallpaper hard to install?

It is unforgiving. Adhesive on the face or a ridge at the seam shows in raking light. That is why the set-out, the adhesive and the preparation are planned before the first length.
