# Seams, corners, edges and joins, up close

A wallcovering is judged at the seam, in the corner and along the edge. These are our own photographs of those places, taken on finished and in-progress installations, each linked to the project it comes from.

## Seams

Where one drop meets the next. On a tonal or plain ground there is no motif to hide a join, so each seam is butted and rolled until it disappears at normal viewing distance.

## Internal corners

A corner is where a pattern most often breaks. The paper is carried into the corner and the design is kept continuous across it, so the eye reads one wall, not two.

## Edges

External corners, arches and shadow gaps leave the cut edge on show. The line has to be straight, tight and even along its whole length; where a wall is not true, a bespoke trim makes the edge read as one line.

## Joins

Where the wallcovering meets something else: a door frame, joinery, a skirting or a switch plate. The cut follows the fitting exactly, with no gap and no overlap.
